Undresses in Public

Some people with dementia may undress in public because they have forgetten when and where it is appropriate to remove their clothes. If this happens with your loved one, try these suggestions:

• Try taking your loved one somewhere private, and ask him or her if he/she is too hot or is uncomfortable.
• Try asking your loved one if he or she needs to use the restroom.
• If undressing is happenning at home in front of you or another caregiver, try posting a sign on the bathroom and bedroom doors so your loved one can identify the appropriate place to go to undress or use the toilet.
