Alzheimer's Disease is a cruel disease which robs people of their memories. It is a particularly difficult disease for the family members of those stricken with Alzheimer's Disease. It is absolutely heartbreaking to see the face of the wife, who has been married 50 years or more, whose husband no longer recognizes her. Alzheimer's Disease doesn't stop there, it is a progressive brain disease. There is no cure for Alzheimer's Disease, but there are steps you can take to help stave off this terrible malady.

  1. To reduce your risk of getting Alzheimer's Disease increase your consumption of the herb, Rosemary to your diet. Rosemary contains properties that may slow or stop the breakdown of neurotransmitters that are affected in Alzheimer's patients.
  2. Add Gingko-Biloba supplement to your daily routine. Gingko-Biloba has been shown to slow the onset of Alzheimer's Disease.
  3. To reduce your risk of getting Alzheimer's Disease keep your mind sharp and active, especially after retirement. Do crossword puzzles, anagrams, talk with people, read and keep current.Stay socially and physically active, be young at heart.
  4. Increase your intake of Vitamin E to help keep Alzheimer's Disease at bay. Vitamin E has been shown to slow the progression of Alzheimer's symptoms. Speak with your doctor before adding Vitamin E to your routine because of possible drug interactions.
